Our Philosophy
In 2000 RiverCity Youth Basketball, (RCYB) started providing the opportunity for boys and girls to develop their athletic interests, while promoting excellence in school and pride in their communities. The aim of RCYB is to build a program that the city of St. Paul can be proud of by providing a healthy and safe environment to develop positive and productive boys and girls. We are dedicated to the development and the maturity of our athletes by promoting an environment of excellence, discipline, respect, and trust. We build and reinforce these characteristics that the youth need to succeed not only in athletics but in life. Our professional standards ensure we display good sportsmanship, respect, and pride and as role models of these high expectations we bring honor and positive recognition to everyone engaged with RiverCity Youth Basketball.
Our Community
RiverCity Youth Basketball is a program of the non-profit organization MLAWS Enterprise, Inc. to provide inner city youth in the Saint Paul community the opportunity to play basketball at a high level of competition that not only promotes sportsmanship, fitness and personal growth but at an affordable cost. In order to honor this philosophy, it is expected that the commitments and contributions from parents and guardians will be comparable to the youth participant in all the fundraising efforts the program has to offer to offset the family financial cost to have their child compete.
The goal of RiverCity youth basketball program, that all players improve, play at a high level of competition, and strive for excellence, in the context of a positive experience.
Our community
Most the youth are from low income inner city hard working families doing what they can to support their child success in life. The parents/ guardian’s commitments and contributions are the life blood of RCYB, be it, the fundraising efforts, needed to offset the family total financial cost for their child to participate or their strong support.
